Happy arrival
Tony and Tania arrive today from British Columbia. They are my Canadian Collaborators on the World Wall. Tania a painter and art teacher will paint the newest addition to the traveling installation mural called the World Wall: a Vision of the Future without Fear. I began this project in the 90's during the U.S military build up of the Regan years. The mural is predicated on the idea that artist could act as visionaries in imagining peace and could create works that would be added from the unique insights of their own countries positionality at a moment of change. Public art demands that multiple projects are in progress simultaneously as they are long term productions. So I am once again working "from the local to global".
Mayne Island has pledged to reduce its emissions and contribute to stopping
global warming. Erected in their public park is a thermometer which measures
each persons reduction pledge. Everyone celebrates with
the 100 mile lunch, all made with local foods
